Locations: Built around 1878-1881 by  L. S. Stigers, this home screams nothing but a grand feel from the side walk. With it’s traditional architecture and huge property area, it makes you wonder why this home would be left abandoned. However, we’re not entirely convinced that this home may not be abandoned but, it goes on our list as the appearance of the property does not look maintained. Looking at the architecture and colour of the building, it reminded us of the building seen in The Goonie’s, 1985. 703 Hall St, Saint Joseph, Missouri, USA Google Maps Co-ordinates: 39.772682, -94.851275

The home seen in The Goonie’s

With the car buried within the shrubs at the side of the property, it makes us think why it wasn’t moved when the previous owners had gone. The home is a pretty good size (along with the land) and would scrub up nicely if somebody was to purchase and look after it. The neighborhood does not look well maintained but, with the surrounding homes that contain bags of character, it has a lot of potential. If you are travelling far, you can stay in the Goldsmith Denniston House Bed and Breakfast (Located on the street behind the property) and make a day or two exploring this home and the surrounding neighborhood. 302 Grand St, Newburgh, NY, USA Google Maps Co-ordinates: 41.510357, -74.009039

The decay of Detroit was imminent, as a lack of investment and the decline in production which has forced crimes rates to be among the highest in the USA. This has resulted in beautiful homes (some of which over a century old) to become abandoned and gradually dilapidate. Within the period of 2 years, a house (seen below) that was on the verge of collapse have completely gone, which has sadly opened up the Detroit area – something of a domino affect? Did you know? In some neighborhoods the water lines are oddly still running which has flooded out basements. And in some areas, homes are populated with a small quantity of dogs that live in these ruins. 229 Edmund Place, Detroit, MI, United States (Built in 1890 – More info) Google Maps Co-ordinates: 42.345085, -83.052936

Abandoned for as long as 2007, but may possibly be longer. These homes that are also located in Detroit may get you thinking that it’s only a matter of time before this area becomes open land if it’s starved of investment for much longer. It’s sad to think that these areas were lined with beautiful properties that have now been taken back by mother nature. 268 Alfred Street, Detroit, MI, United States Google Maps Co-ordinates: 42.344409, -83.051351

Not entirely convinced this house is abandoned. But, it certainly has that kind of feel to it. Located in Vicq-sur-Gartempe, France, this beautiful building screams nothing but character that is certainly worth going to check out. We were not able to find any history on this property however, the pictures speak for themself. 6 Rue du Pont, Vicq-sur-Gartempe, France Google Maps Co-ordinates: 46.720893, 0.862898
